Omokoroa beach

Day 35- March 12th

The next morning Andrew made us Gluten-Free pancakes and we tried to plan ahead for the next few days. Everything else we had made reservations and plans for, now we were free to do what we wanted for the rest of our trip. We decided to go visit another friend of my Dad, Rick, who lived in Waihi Beach, only forty minutes away.

First we stopped at a little Holiday Park in Athenree, which was next to a little inlet. There was someone driving a car-like paddle boat on it and another person standing up and paddling on a surfboard. We then drove into Waihi Beach, where we went on a short hike out to another beach and went wading. The waves were a bit big and there was undertow, so we didn’t swim.

After our hike we drove over to Rick’s house. His daughter was in Auckland, but his 12 year old son Bryan and his wife Nan were there. We played on the beach a bit, and had dinner. After dinner we played a fun game called 10 days in ___ (one continent). They had Asia, Africa, and Europe. You draw country cards, then have to connect them into a vacation that works.
